How did you hear about the game? Plurk. Lots of Plurk

[IC Information]
Character Name: Death Emizel
Series: Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten
Gender: Male
Age: Never specified. Could be anywhere within the 1000-1300 range, maybe even younger.
Species: Death/Demon

Appearance:
Emizel looks out to be a 10-13 year old boy with short messy blond hair. He has all the common traits of a Disgaea verse demon: Red eyes, pointed elf-like ears, and fangs. Outside from the demon features, the only other thing that's noticeable on him is a scar above his nose. He also seems a little bit short for his supposed age, and a bit scrawny.

Clothing wise the first thing that stands out is the green hoodie that makes him resemble a reaper and a jester at the same time. The hood itself is quite long in the back (about half of Emizel's overall height even), at the top there is a pattern of a white and black skull, followed by two red cloth bands with black and blue details behind it and wrap over where the 'tail' because mun has no idea what else to call it of the hood begins. From there it keeps going down until it reaches a metal gold band that has a pale blue flame to mimic a tassel. The rest of the jacket is more simple. A white strip goes up both of the sides in the front, a yellow strip goes down both the sleeves with the sleeve cuffs being a black ruffle, and in the very back of it there's another bone pattern depicting a set of wings.

Amazingly enough underneath that Emizel also manages to wear a formal suit (President's son, after all) with a white collared shirt under that and red bow tie that's always visible. Below all that he simply just has a pair of black shorts and green shoes that have a matching skull pattern as the one on the hood.

Personality:
Emizel had a very sheltered existence. Prior to being abandoned by Hugo he never had to travel far without a bodyguard or two to watch his back. All of which gave him a false sense of being someone important, but it was all really just proxy by being the president's son. In return Emizel barely needed to do anything on his own, never needed to know how to actually fight either, and later even confirms that he's never killed someone before (or more specifically, taken their soul). Confronting Valvatorez as Abaddon leader was maybe the first time he ever gotten to do anything. If anything he had assumed because he comes from a legacy of strong demons that he would naturally be the same in any situation. And came up with a whole variety of excuses of why he originally lost to Val later like being too tired at the time, rather than admit that he just had no experience.

While Emizel is very naive at times and innocent and child-like, he is certainly not stupid. The extent of his knowledge in never clear, but he does seem to at least know every in and out and every big named demon in the Netherworld; all likely due to the fact he used to live right in the center of it all, the Blight House. He also knows quite a bit about the past too. Possibly more that was actually mentioned, but he did at least read all there was known about Tyrant Valvatorez, and enjoyed every story about how he once ruled the Human World through fear. Emizel had no idea that the one guy giving him so much trouble would actually turn out to be one of his heroes.

Also despite abusing his father's title for as long as he can remember, Emizel does actually care a lot for him. More openly about it than most other demons would admit about their families. He also seems to understand Hugo better than anyone and was even able to pick up that something was different than usual going on in the corrupternment in the last couple years, but never bothered to question it. Rather he just trusted that whatever his father was doing was the right choice. Even after the corrupternment destroyed his identity and thrown him out, he still wanted to believe that his father wasn't involved in it, despite that there was no way he wouldn't be. And even after Emizel finally joined the rest of the Disgaea 4 group, it wasn't out of revenge, all he wanted to do was prove that he could be strong. Maybe initially under the thought that Hugo would immediately accept him again, but eventually it lead to brighter goals than that: Being able to stand up on his own and not only get his identity back but actually do something with it.

From around that point and on Emizel began to learn about a lot of important things. Val taught him the meaning of promises, and what happens if you don't actually keep them, though the actual weight consequence didn't seem to sink in till later. How he should never give up even when things are at its worst. And over all what it's pretty much like to fight alongside others, even if they were all working together for different reasons.

And although Emizel suddenly became very ambitious, he can still be very pessimistic and negative a lot of the time too. Again because of his intelligence and knowledge of the Netherworld he knows just how bad of a disadvantage Val's team had to full force of the corrupternment (of course this was still believing that the corrupternment was in its prime), and constantly going on about how none of them stood a chance. This attitude did start to change however once they did manage to survive every little thing thrown at them, to the point that when battles went beyond just things in the Netherworld (protecting the moon and eventually having to 'fight God'), Emizel pretty much stopped worrying over if the plans would actually work or not. But then by that point the situations were very much do or die anyway.

Not that there's anything wrong about being too much of a worrywart, as this can make Emizel one of more considerate/thoughtful ones of his kind out there. Just don't ever bring it up or he will find ways to either deny it or change subjects.

But he certainly a bit of a spazz time to time, always tripping over words whenever nervous or under pressure and all that, usually for comedic effect. Speaking of comedic effect though Emizel has about two of those: One being his hatred towards all things fish and seafood related (in streak contrast to Valvatorez's obsession with sardines). And the other is his fear of women, or rather just females in general. Which was something that started after he was pulled into Fuka and Desco's (and eventually Artina) 'gossip circle' and soon learned first hand how conniving, treacherous, and shameless girls can be. Later spawning Emizel's catchphrase of calling women scary and wanting to have nothing to do with them, even going as far as vowing to never get married (not that he understands love well enough on the romantic level anyway). However despite all this apprehension towards the opposite gender he can still be tolerable of them. After all he wouldn't still consider Fuka, Desco, and Artina as friends comrades if he did.

Otherwise Emizel isn't too far from other demons. He's stubborn and much more competitive now that pride and honor are bigger deals (even if it is both family oriented and personal) while still knowing his limit, and can speak what's on his mind if he needs to. Despite trying to be conservative he is sometimes impulsive too, especially after provoked which can happen easily. Style is also a big deal as it is another part to having an identity, but also stick to modern trends as not only does his clothing reflect this but in the very beginning he used to use a lot of quite outdated slang. He wants to impress everyone but sort of be cool while doing it, and it makes him a bit reluctant to do embarrassing or degrading things if he can avoid it. Unfortunately not many are willing to take him so seriously when he is just a kid and still too timid to have a bite that's worse than his bark.

Abilities:
There's a skill exhibition page right over here \o/

Although Emizel essentially has black mage stats (lots of magic power, frail everywhere else), demons are implied to be pretty sturdy and can withstand a lot of damage before actually going down. Making him probably more defensively adapted than a human at least, but also given his size and age, definitely not at the highest potential yet. He's undoubtedly tougher than a human at his age, but for a demon, he's on the weaker side.

Demons also have keener senses too, although the only one that's really confirmed is hearing (I guess the pointed ears are good for something), but it can be assumed that sight and smell is better too. Actually it might as well be a fact that they have amazing night vision when most of the Netherworld is dark and dreary anyway. As well as a little bit of sixth senses, sometimes being able to pick up presences and see supernatural/paranormal activity (Which Emizel could probably excel at even more given his role as Death, but needs practice at).

In D4 it's also proven demons don't need air to breathe either. Making it awfully convenient at one plot point when the team had to go into space.

Items: Just his scythe and possibly some early Post Game gear, the only thing super noteworthy in that would probably be a decent ranked staff.

History:
Emizel comes from a Netherworld that's dependent on fear from the Human World (Later revealed to be Earth, or a variation of it). For millenniums it's been the demons job to scare humans so they would always have energy to survive and retain their power. There was another reason for this too, to keep humans disciplined. When humans fear darkness they are less likely to horrible things themselves. They will also turn towards light instead which benefits angels and forms a universal trinity. This is way things always were for as long as anyone could remember, except the older the human race got, the more they began to drift away from this trinity. Their technology could eventually outsmart and out power a demon's strength and without them being a threat anymore, they didn't exactly need God or angels to protect them either.

Over time the Human World fell deeper into a sort of chaos, while the Netherworld and Celestia slowly crumbled in their own separate ways. Things would get even worse for the Netherworld though when one day a mysterious man showed up on the doorstep of the corrupternment and offered a deal with the demons. They could get some of their energy back (though not a lot), but certain things had to be done in return: offer a few demons that could be used for experimentation, let humans dump waste into Netherworld, and then some. Naturally no one in the corrupternment was too keen on these plans, but without any other option, the president had no choice but to agree to them. Of course no one else from the outside was supposed to know about this either, or the fact that Netherworld had been falling apart all these years. A mass hysteria was the last thing they needed.

In the mean time other things had to be done to try to keep order, such as eliminating Prinnies to cut back on their overpopulation; Emizel's first big mission. It was this that finally grabbed Valvatorez's attention, though only because some of the Prinnies he had been training were magically whisked away, and set out with Fenrich to rescue them and get to the bottom of it. After getting defeated by Val rather than returning back to the corrupternment and his father Emizel stayed around Hades until he could accomplish something, eventually running into Fuka. Claiming to be strong he agree to help against her own battle with Valvatorez but lost again. After that he found Akutare and partnered with him, only this time rather than fighting Valvatorez and co. themselves they would get inmates from Hades to do it for them, claiming whoever killed them could be set free. Even this failed to work, and after unsealing Desco, it all completely backfired anyway.

Fenrich started to take note of Emizel's constant failures and thought of a way to use it to his advantage, especially now that he got Val to accept taking over the corrupternment for reasons (though Valvatorez's own reasons are just to beat some sense into it and find out where all this backwards logic was coming from). A video was sent to the President's office containing all of Emizel's humiliating losses with a warning of it becoming public unless he surrendered. Rather than either happening, the threat was countered by creating a fake news article that Emizel was dead. Instead the next best thing was to somehow convince Emizel that taking him and Val to the Information Bureau so they could take control of it. And oh yeah, correct that article, except not really.

Since it was pretty much impossible for Emizel to get his life back (almost literally in this case) he decided it was time that he did start a new one, a better and more independent one; and made a goal to get stronger before he faced his father again. Probably what was a little less expecting though was getting getting a spot offered on Val's team considering the amount of times he was against him.

After getting pass a few other interruptions along the way, the team finally made it the Blight House to confront the corrupternment and president. From there they learned about the sad state the Netherworld was really in and how it was really controlled behind the scenes by the one who visited them earlier, Judge Nemo, a human from 400 years ago who wants to destroy all humans and make demons suffer. After this was discovered Team Val had to divert their attention from the Netherworld and focus more on stopping Nemo from having his way. In the meantime Akutare put himself in charge to take of things while they were gone.

Eventually Nemo's hatred for mankind got so bad that it activated an armageddon device meant to destroy all worlds (Human World, Celestia, and Netherworld). Though it was eventually stopped, and Nemo was finally taken cared of, there certainly was some fast improvements just from those alone but not everything was resolved so quickly. For one thing breaking the device caused a sort of hole in the universe. Causing everyone to act differently than usual, characters from other dimensions showing up by mistake, all kinds of weird and unusual things.

Not that it matters too much, since around that same time is when Emizel fell asleep to Revenance.

First-Person Communicator Sample:
[There was a sound of something whimpering in the background, possibly an awfully familiar sound to some]

Okay what am I doing wrong now? I tried feeding him, walking him, even cleaning but he just won't stop!

[Staring down at the derpy ball of fluff pawing his leg] ... Maybe he has to go? Do they even do that? No wonder I was never allowed pets.

[Suddenly the dream eater crouched down began wagging its tail excitedly.]

... Now what are yo--GAH!! [Transmission ended due to Emizel getting flopped on by a very affectionate Meow Wow.]

Third-Person RP Sample:
"This is supposed to be the spot, but I don't see anyone here," Emizel stepped out of the gateway with the newly born Meow Wow following behind. Sure enough the street looked deserted, if it weren't for the dim street lamps it was easy to say no one lived here for a really long time. Although that couldn't mean a thing either.

"Well, we better start looking," he shoved his hands into his pockets and took a few more steps forward until the dram eater abruptly yanked on the back of his jacket, almost pulling the demon on top of itself. "--HEY! What gives?!"

Thankfully Emizel got his balance back and gave the dream eater a bit of a scolding. "You wanna eat, don't you? I'm not going to find anything if you keep... keep..." that train of thought will have to wait. He didn't see anything yet, but he definitely heard it, those animalistic growls.

There in all the shadows Emizel could see some glowing red eyes. There must be quite a good number of them for that many. "... Oh, those must be the bad ones," it explained now why no one wanted to be here. The demon didn't look too afraid of the situation though, compared to the monsters he sees normally these barely looked scary at all. But the for the Meow Wow, on the other hand.

Emizel was just about ready to get into the fight when a loud whimper came from behind him, startling him slightly and certainly grabbing his attention to turn around and see what was wrong. The Meow Wow had cowered behind his legs and was shaking wildly. Poor thing was scared to death. Maybe it knew enemies were there the whole time, that could have been why it was acting so jittery the minute they entered. Of all things Emizel could have created to protect him he had to get the one that didn't know how to fight either. Then again...

"Hey.." he said rather softly to it, "you don't have to worry, I got this."

Looking back, he could see that the nightmares had gotten closer. To which he responded by casting a spell from his staff.

"Just trust me."
